Meril offers MERIZELLE™, an oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) absorbable hemostat designed to assist in controlling bleeding during surgical procedures. MERIZELLE™ is available in three variants: Standard, Woven, and Fibre, each tailored to specific surgical needs.

MERIZELLE™ Standard:
- Composition: 95–100% oxidized regenerated cellulose; 0–5% water.
- Appearance: White to pale yellow knitted fabric with a faint caramel-like aroma.
- Sizes: Various dimensions, including 5.08 cm x 7.6 cm and 10.16 cm x 20.3 cm.
- Features:
- Achieves hemostasis in 2–4 minutes.
- Absorbed within 1–2 weeks if left in place; removable prior to closure at the surgeon's discretion.
- Reduces the risk of surgical site infections.
- Applications: Suitable for nephrological, neurological, and general surgical procedures to control capillary, venous, and small arterial hemorrhages when conventional methods are impractical or ineffective.
MERIZELLE™ Woven:
- Composition and Appearance: Similar to the Standard variant but with a densely woven structure for added strength.
- Sizes: Options include 2.54 cm x 2.54 cm and 15.24 cm x 22.9 cm.
- Features:
- Enhanced strength suitable for areas with heavier bleeding.
- Rapid hemostasis and absorption profile akin to the Standard variant.
- Applications: Ideal for general surgical procedures where ligation or other conventional methods are impractical or ineffective.
MERIZELLE™ Fibre:
- Composition and Appearance: Composed of soft, lightweight tufts of oxidized regenerated cellulose, allowing customization in size, shape, or thickness.
- Sizes: Available in dimensions such as 2.54 cm x 5.08 cm and 10.16 cm x 10.16 cm.
- Features:
- Flexible application, especially in hard-to-reach or irregularly shaped bleeding sites.
- Similar hemostatic and absorption characteristics as other variants.
- Applications: Particularly beneficial in neurosurgical procedures to control capillary, venous, and small arterial hemorrhages when other methods are unsuitable.
